Senegalese-American artiste Akon has shared that he found his earlier relationship lifestyle, which involved multiple partners, less stressful and more enjoyable than being with one person.

Speaking during an appearance on The Shade Room, the 53-year-old said that while his past came with excitement and ease, his experience in a one-partner setup has not offered the same feeling.

He, however, avoided giving clear details about his current relationship situation when asked, saying responding could put him in a difficult position.

The comments come months after his wife, Tomeka Thiam, filed for divorce in September 2025, ending their 28-year marriage on the grounds of irreconcilable differences. The couple share a daughter named Journey.

Akon has repeatedly expressed support for polygamy in past interviews and has also revealed that he is a father to nine children.
