Davido brings Nigerian culture to the forefront at historic Coachella debut
Nigerian music star Davido made his debut at the Coachella festival on Saturday. The singer, whose real name is David Adeleke, performed some of his hit songs including *If*, *Skelewu*, *Dami Duro* and more.
Davido shared clips from his performance on Instagram. He described the moment as one where he brought culture to the forefront.
“OBOchella week 1. We brought culture to the forefront. Thank you for rocking with us. See you next week at Week 2,” he wrote.
He added in another post: “WE BROUGHT CULTURE TO YOUR FOREFRONT THANK YOU FOR ROCKING WITH US. SEE YOU NEXT WEEK AT WEEK 2!”
The performance took place during the first weekend of Coachella 2026, held from April 10 to 12 in Indio, California. Davido is the only Nigerian artist on the lineup, which also features headliners such as Justin Bieber, Sabrina Carpenter, Karol G and Anyma.
Davido will return for the second weekend from April 17 to 19. He promised fans more entertainment then.
His wife Chioma reacted to the news by sharing a screenshot of the festival poster on her Instagram story with crying and fire emojis. Davido’s manager, Asa Asika, had earlier reflected on the artist’s journey from leaving school to chase his music dream.
