Tyla shares Solana's 'Okunkun' on Instagram Story after SZA's co-sign
South African singer Tyla has added to the wave of Solana's "Okunkun."
Tyla posted the song to her Instagram Story on Wednesday, using the platform's music-share sticker to feature "Okunkun" by Solana and Killertunes.
The repost comes weeks after American singer SZA gave the record a public co-sign, further fueling its spread beyond Nigeria.
"Okunkun," released on June 19 via ONErpm, has become one of Solana's biggest breakout moments yet. The Yoruba-language single explores darkness, faith, and resilience and has been described as a "power anthem" carrying spiritual undertones of prayer and grace.
Solana, born Ogunlana Oluwabusolami Habibat, is a Lagos-based Afro-fusion artist who came up through Mr Eazi's emPawa 30 cohort in 2020. She has said the song sat unreleased for years before she put it out, after some in the industry doubted whether Nigerian audiences would connect with its sound.
