Toyin Abraham, Abike Shugaa Trade Words Over Broken Mentorship
A public fallout has emerged between Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham and her former protégé Abike Shugaa, with both sides giving different accounts of what went wrong in their once-close relationship.
The controversy gained attention after Abike shared a detailed video online, accusing the actress of unfair treatment and making several claims about how their relationship ended.
Abike said their connection started after Abraham supported her financially following a viral post about her hustle. She noted that the relationship later opened doors for her in acting and content creation.
However, she claimed things changed over time, alleging issues around payments, control over her social interactions, and disagreements during movie promotions. She also accused the actress of making threats and influencing opportunities she lost after their fallout.
In response, Abraham avoided going into details publicly but dismissed parts of the claims. She maintained that payments were made appropriately and rejected suggestions of wrongdoing.
Her management also released a statement denying any serious conflict, insisting that obligations to Abike were fulfilled and that some of the claims were misleading.
The pair were previously seen as having a mentor-mentee relationship, with Abike gaining visibility through roles and collaborations linked to Abraham’s circle in Nollywood.
With both sides holding different positions, the situation has sparked conversations online, though neither party appears willing to escalate the matter further publicly.
