Tobi Makinde Dismisses Rift Rumours With Funke Akindele
Nollywood actor Tobi Makinde has once again addressed speculation about his relationship with filmmaker Funke Akindele, insisting there is no bad blood between them despite her absence from his wedding and his non-appearance in her recent film.
Speaking during an interview on TVC's E-Splash, Makinde said Funke Akindele's decision not to attend his wedding was completely understandable, explaining that she was occupied with promoting one of her films at the time. He praised the award-winning actress for her dedication to her craft and expressed gratitude for the role she has played in shaping his career.
"I've addressed this over and over. There is no problem. Her not coming is totally understandable. It was a period when she was promoting her film. We all know how it is when she's promoting her film. She takes her craft very seriously.
"For someone who immensely, immensely contributed to my career, it is very understandable. No be everybody weh you invite go come your wedding."
Makinde also responded to questions about not being featured in Akindele's latest project, saying there is no issue between them and that actors are not expected to appear in every film a director produces.
"About her film, it's not all her films I'll be in. That is what growth is about."
The actor's comments come after months of online speculation that his absence from Behind the Scenes and Akindele's absence from his wedding signaled a fallout. Makinde's remarks appear to put those rumours to rest, emphasising that their professional relationship remains intact and that career decisions should not be mistaken for personal conflict.
