American rapper, Rick Ross has been arrested in Miami Beach over allegations of domestic violence involving his former girlfriend, Jazzma Kendrick.

Ross, whose real name is William Leonard Roberts II, turned himself in to police on Thursday, October 1, 2026, and was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. He faces felony battery by strangulation and misdemeanor battery charges.

According to the arrest affidavit, the case stems from an alleged incident at Ross’ Star Island residence on August 28. Kendrick told police that Ross confronted her over a photograph in which she had been tagged on Instagram and accused her of being involved with another man.

She alleged that Ross slapped her in the face before striking her several times in the chest and face. Kendrick also told investigators that he grabbed the collar of her hoodie and twisted it around her neck, restricting her breathing. She further alleged that he pulled her by her ponytail and slammed her against a wall.

The allegations were reported to Miami Beach police on September 29, about a month after the alleged incident.

Days before making the police report, Kendrick had publicly accused Ross of physical abuse on social media. On September 26, she shared photographs showing an apparent injury to her lip and alleged that Ross had caused the injury.

Kendrick did not identify the date of the alleged assault in those posts, but her social media claims came shortly before the police report that led to Ross’ arrest.

Ross has pleaded not guilty and denied the allegations through his legal team. His attorney, Steve Sadow, has also pointed to the delay between the alleged incident and the police report while disputing the claims against the rapper.

Court records show that Ross was given a $5,000 bond on the battery-by-strangulation charge and a $1,000 bond on the misdemeanor battery charge, bringing the total bond to $6,000.

Ross and Kendrick had been romantically linked since 2025 and had an on-and-off relationship. The pair were seen together at the 2026 BET Awards in June, while reports also placed them together in August.

Ross is expected to return to court for an arraignment on October 22.

The charges remain allegations, and Ross has not been convicted of either offense.
