Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has revealed that he is currently struggling with walking and experiencing occasional swelling in different parts of his body.

The 79-year-old actor disclosed while visiting ailing Ghanaian actor Emmanuel Armah in Accra, Ghana, where he spoke about his own health challenges and expressed hope for recovery.

“Sitting down here, I am not very well myself. Walking is a problem for me now, but I still have hope that I will recover,” Edochie said.

He explained that he sometimes wakes up to find parts of his body swollen, adding that the swelling eventually goes down. He specifically mentioned his hand and leg as parts of his body that have been affected.

Despite the physical difficulties, Edochie said he remains hopeful about recovering. He also spoke about his desire not to become a burden to the people around him, saying he regularly asks God to take him when his time comes.

“I just keep asking God, you are the author of life; whenever it’s time for me to go, just take me. Don’t let me bother the people who are around me. Just take me,” he said.

Edochie made the remarks during his visit to Emmanuel Armah, who has been dealing with serious health complications for nearly 11 years. Armah has remained largely away from acting while receiving ongoing care, including physiotherapy and massages.

During the visit, Edochie prayed for Armah’s recovery and also provided financial support towards his care. The actor expressed his belief that his Ghanaian colleague could still recover from his condition.

The visit formed part of Edochie’s activities in Ghana connected to his Pete Edochie Legacy Project, as the veteran actor continues his visits around the country.
