Nigerian content creator Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, has responded to criticism following a viral clip in which many social media users claimed he referred to music star Davido as a "user."

Addressing the controversy via his Instagram story, Peller insisted his comments had been misunderstood, explaining that he was using the slang term "001" to describe excellence rather than making an accusation against the award-winning singer.

In the statement, he wrote:

"Nah today I know say people wey call me olodo nah them be olodo uprising. Because how Davido name take be user? Anybody can be 001 in what they are good at. I said some people are users, 001 means they are good in what they do. For some people wey be user, there are 001 in it. Una just want to bring me down anyway una go just try. Davido is 001 in music."

Peller maintained that Davido remains "001 in music," stressing that his remarks were taken out of context by critics attempting to stir controversy.

The clarification comes after snippets of his earlier comments circulated online, prompting mixed reactions from fans, with some accusing him of disrespecting the Afrobeats star while others argued that his words had been misinterpreted.

Neither Davido nor his management has publicly responded to Peller's clarification at the time of filing this report.
