Niniola returns with ‘O Du Mi’ months after husband’s death
Nigerian singer Niniola Apata is set to return to music with a new single, ‘O Du Mi’, months after the death of her husband and longtime manager, Michael Ndika.
The Afro-house singer announced the song on Tuesday, August 11, revealing that it will be released on Friday.
Sharing a preview of the song, Niniola wrote, “Some feelings are too deep for words. So I put them in a song.”
The release will be her first major musical outing since Ndika died in May 2026. Niniola had revealed his death in a series of emotional posts, also disclosing that they had been privately married for 13 years.
Ndika was Niniola’s husband and business manager and served as the CEO of NaijaReview, an entertainment and digital media platform.
Niniola has gradually returned to public appearances since his death. She recently performed on stage again and attended the launch of her younger sister Teniola Apata’s album, where the sisters shared a moment together.
In July, Niniola spoke publicly about her grief, describing the loss of her husband as “indescribably painful” and saying she had struggled with the reality of becoming a young widow.
She also said she remained grateful for the support she had received from family, friends, colleagues and fans.
