Natasha Osawaru Idibia declares presidential ambition
Edo State lawmaker Natasha Osawaru Idibia has declared her ambition to become President of Nigeria.
Natasha made the declaration while celebrating her grandfather, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, who recently marked his 92nd birthday. In a video from the celebration, she told him that she would become president before his death and promised to make him proud.
“I promise you that I’ll be the president of this country before you go. And I’ll make you very, very proud,” she said.
Natasha represents Egor Constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly. Her declaration has drawn attention because it is the first public indication of a presidential ambition from the lawmaker, who is also the wife of Nigerian musician Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba.
The statement comes as Nigeria's political landscape begins to take shape ahead of the 2027 general elections, although Natasha did not specify a political platform, election year, or whether she intends to contest in 2027.
For now, her comments mark a public declaration of her promise to her grandfather to lead Nigeria at the highest political level.
