Nigerian disc jockey Ademola Abiodun, known as DJ Chicken, has been arrested over a video in which he threatened the life of Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu.

The arrest follows a viral clip in which DJ Chicken said Tinubu cannot win re-election in 2027, adding that he would kill Seyi Tinubu if the president won.

"Tinubu, you can't win the election. If you win, I will kill Seyi Tinubu. I won't say more than that," he said in the video, speaking in Yoruba.

His lawyer, Rotimi Stephen, confirmed the arrest in a video posted on Instagram on Thursday, saying DJ Chicken was picked up in Ikeja and taken to the Ikeja Police Headquarters. Stephen said he believes the Department of State Services is also involved in the matter.

Content creator Tunde Perry separately confirmed the arrest during a livestream on Thursday night, saying associates of the presidency, rather than Tinubu or his son directly, were behind the move.

Stephen appealed to the presidency and DJ Chicken's supporters to show him mercy, describing him as a personal mentee he has supported for years.

As of the time of this report, the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services have not issued an official statement confirming the arrest or any charges against DJ Chicken.
