DapperDam challenges Seyi Vibez, Shallipopi, T.I Blaze to forensic audit
Music executive Damilola Akinwunmi, popularly known as DapperDam, has responded to allegations of unpaid royalties, contract breaches, and financial impropriety made by former signees Seyi Vibez, Shallipopi, and T.I Blaze.
Akinwunmi, in a series of posts on X on Saturday, August 15, denied wrongdoing and said the records relating to the artistes’ dealings with Dapper Music are available to the relevant authorities. He challenged his former artistes to submit the label’s accounts and contracts to an independent forensic audit, saying the process should determine whether any money was mismanaged.
“I have nothing to hide. The records exist. The authorities have them. Let the process establish the truth,” he wrote.
Responding specifically to Shallipopi, who had alleged that his signature was forged on a 10-year distribution agreement and subsequently used in a deal with Virgin Music Group, Dapper questioned the singer’s account of their contractual history. He pointed to an earlier 2024 statement in which Shallipopi said he had been pushed into a deal with Dapper Digital, asking how that claim differed from the singer’s latest allegation of signature forgery.
Dapper also proposed that the dispute be subjected to a forensic review by established accounting or law firms. He named KPMG, PwC, Deloitte, Templars, Aluko & Oyebode, Olaniwun Ajayi LP, and Udo Udoma & Belo-Osagie, adding that an audit had already been conducted by what he described as a reputable firm.
“We already did an audit from a reputable company! Surprise, surprise, who owes who?” he wrote.
