Charles Okocha Beats Portable By Disqualification In Chaotic Boxing Rematch
Nollywood actor Charles Okocha defeated street-pop singer Habeeb Okikiola, known as Portable, in their celebrity boxing rematch on Friday, after Portable walked out of the ring and was disqualified.
The bout, tagged "Unfinished Business" and staged at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos, was billed as the headline attraction of the Chaos in the Ring franchise.
The rematch settled a score dating back to their first encounter in December 2023 at Landmark Beach, Victoria Island, which Portable won by unanimous decision after four rounds.
That fight followed a public dispute between the two over an alleged unpaid appearance fee, with Portable accusing Okocha of failing to pay him millions of naira for an event, a claim Okocha denied at the time while acknowledging he had transferred ₦5 million to the singer. Okocha later disputed the loss itself, alleging the contest had been unfair and pointing to an incident involving Portable's gloves in the third round, before activating a rematch clause.
The build-up to Friday's fight matched the rivalry's history, with both men trading threats and mock punches across press conferences and a heated TV face-off days before the bout.
Organisers said the Chaos in the Ring franchise has generated more than two billion video views and 4.2 billion digital impressions across previous editions.
