Bloody Civilian Says Marriage Is Not Part of Her Plans
Nigerian singer Bloody Civilian has said she is not considering marriage despite continued pressure from family members.
The singer, whose real name is Emoseh Khamofu, made the revelation during a recent appearance on the Not Just On podcast, where she spoke about how her career has shaped her views on life and traditional expectations.
According to the 26-year-old artiste, some of the values she was raised with no longer align with her personal interests and goals.
Bloody Civilian explained that her family still expects her to follow certain cultural norms associated with women from Northern Nigeria. Still, she does not share the same enthusiasm for those expectations.
Speaking on marriage, she said it is not something she is currently thinking about, even though the topic is frequently raised by relatives.
She said:
“One thing my family still does not understand about being an artiste is the fact that certain conventional things that they expect of a woman from the North are just simply not things that I am excited to do. For instance, marriage is not something that I am thinking of at all. But that question keeps being brought up.”
