Bella Shmurda has shut down viral reports claiming he lost $4 million in a Lagos property scam.

The Afrobeats star, real name Abiola Ahmed Akinbiyi, addressed the claims in a series of Instagram Story posts on Friday, days after the report went viral online.

The viral version alleged that Bella Shmurda broke down in tears during an Instagram Live session, revealing he'd spent $4 million on a property that turned out to be stolen, and appealed to Nigerians for help after the seller allegedly vanished.

"Fake news!! I wasn't scammed. Trust bloggers at ur own Risk. Doing fine and happy. Peace & Love," he wrote.

He followed up with another post mocking the scale of the claim: "4m$ keh?? This country no go sleep!!"

Sources close to the singer have since clarified the origin of the confusion. The emotional clip being recirculated online is old, recorded in 2023 during a livestream shortly after the death of fellow singer Mohbad, and has no connection to any recent property transaction.

The clarification has eased concerns among fans, many of whom had been reacting with worry over the singer's welfare before the report was debunked
