Salt, the sister of Nigerian music star Ayra Starr, has opened up about how money could affect her choice of partner.

The singer’s sister discussed relationships and financial differences during an appearance on the Wahala Podcast, where she was asked about the possibility of dating a man who earns less than she does.

Salt said she would be comfortable with such a relationship, but admitted that knowing she had more money could affect the power dynamic between them. Her answer was:

“I will control him o,” she said.

Her comments came during a conversation about whether women should consider dating men who are not financially ahead of them.

Salt also made it clear that having more money would not mean she would stop expecting her partner to contribute financially.

In her view, a man can earn less than his partner and still have a responsibility to provide within the relationship.

She further explained that she would not necessarily reveal the full extent of her wealth to the man she was dating.

“He wouldn’t even know I have a lot of money because I will not make him know that,” she said.

According to Salt, keeping her financial position private could allow her partner to continue relating with her without being influenced by how much money she has.

The discussion also touched on whether women should deliberately avoid men who earn less than them.

Salt pointed out that there is no single rule for relationships because people have different preferences when choosing partners.

Her position has since generated discussion online, particularly around financial independence, gender roles, women who earn more than their partners and the traditional expectation that men should provide in relationships.
